South Beach Retreat

This 11th floor 1200 sf, 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment had a great location and spectacular view but little else going for it. It was completely gutted. THe 1970's interior was transformed into a modern refuge with a white porcelain tile floor, modern wenge and stainless steel kitchen and carved relief wall panels with dramatic LED backlighting serving as a dramatic backdrop to a flat panel media center. Track lighting spotlights furniture, accessories, flowers, creating drama as the night falls. The furniture throughout is white, classic modern, comfortable, with splashes of color in brown, orange and blue found in the artwork and accessories. The beds in the Master Bedroom and Guest Bedroom are low, making the spaces seem spatially generous. The bathrooms have the same porcelain walls and floors as the rest of the apartment, with accent walls of stone and pebbles, paying homage to the beaches beyond.

This home was awarded the 2010 Silver Award for Residential Design by the International Interior Design Association's (IIDA) Mid-Atlantic Chapter.

This project was featured in the September/October 2011 issue of " Home & Design" magazine in the article "Minimalist Motif"
