FORMA
was comissioned to re-design the Lobby and public areas of this
historic Art Deco building on 16th Street, just steps from the
White House. Security issues at night at the non-manned front
desk were addressed via a rolling stainless steel wall that disappears
during the day. Floor and ceiling articulation and finishes were
inspired by the Deco era but were executed in a modern vocabulary.
The renovation of the public areas is being followerd by the renovation
of the apartment units themselves.
