The
client hired FORMA to redesign the Garden Level of this home in
the woods, and transform it into a family room and Yoga studio,
where the client practices and teaches Yoga. Natural and earth
friendly materials in a neutral pallette play up the zen feeling
throughout. Sliding shoji screens with translucent plexi panels
imbedded with natural grasses provide privacy during meditation.
Heated bamboo flooring makes the yoga experience sublime. An exterior
cedar deck extends into the woods for a meditative after-yoga
walk.
The project was featured in "Home & Design" magazine in the Fall
of 2005, in Syntheseis magazine in February of 2006, and in Washington Spaces magazine in November/December 2007.
